The General Directorate of Sharjah Police has launched an awareness campaign under the slogan "Beware of the dangers of electronic extortion", which will last for one month, in order to protect the society from the dangers of e-extortion as part of its commitment to implement the vision and mission of the Ministry of Interior to enhance security . In order for the State to be one of the best and safest countries in the world.
The campaign aims at educating and educating all segments of society and introducing them to the dangers they face if they are subjected to electronic extortion, which in many cases threatens the victims who fall into their midst, such as intimidating the victim by publishing pictures or films of his own, , Or exploitation of the victim to carry out illegal acts in favor of extortionists.
The campaign includes various awareness activities to combat this illegal activity by spreading awareness through the social communication platforms of the Sharjah Police and participating in exhibitions held at the level of universities, institutes, schools and various educational institutions in Sharjah, and benefiting from community clubs and neighborhood councils to provide workshops and (Arabic, English, and Urdu), which show how to protect against the dangers of extortion, in addition to spreading awareness through the various media.
The campaign offers guidance to protect individuals from being tempted by some vulnerable people, such as avoiding accepting anonymous friends through social networking sites, not trusting anonymous people, not disclosing personal password passwords, changing them periodically, and activating the privacy of those accounts On the social networking sites, without sending personal photos to anyone, the trap may be the owner's exposure to the window of extortion and threat, and avoid accepting any files or open any anonymous links, and finally avoid the dissemination of personal data over the Internet, and not to share with others.
